Use a dark shade in your crease and make a little half circle, touching either corner of your eyelid. IF you choose to do eyeshadow, make the colors very subtle. We don't want a flawless canvas.Įasy on the eyes. Go light on the concealer, both under the eyes and over the face demons. Now, I can look masculine and look like I'm literally wearing absolutely no makeup at all.ĭon't fear blemishes. I got the idea once while thinking of Colton Haynes and his chiseled cheek bones, and the idea really panned out for me. To avoid going overboard, do it in neat, thin layers and just repeat until you get the look you want. Almost like little strips of taupe war paint (or plum will look natural too if you're fair like me) under your cheekbones in thin layers and then blended out. But if you almost just slightly underline your cheekbones, and really keep localized without blending too close to the nose or the temples, it looks more masculine. At a diagonal, it really looks very feminine. You can keep it subtle, but angle for more horizontal application and blending. *addendum: /u/razielim I've noticed that changing the direction of the contour makes all the difference. As for highlighting, try to avoid anything with a finish other than matte. Add more bronzer to your temples than normal. Continue the contour all along your jaw, bringing it up a bit on either side of your chin. Do your cheekbones as you normally would, then press your finger into your cheek (GENTLY) to find where your teeth begin in the back.
#Masculine contour full
Personally, I don't overdraw mine on the ends or top, I just fill them in with taupe eyeshadow and flatten them out at the bottom a little, but I have naturally full dark brows.Ĭontour, contour, contour! Stretch the contour along your nose underneath your brows. We just often think that men have darker brows because they're bigger and messier, but as an overall trend, they're about equal or slightly lighter than women's. It's actually more common for (cis) women to have bolder facial feature coloring (it's actually almost a secondary sex characteristic), so darkening eyebrows can fight against making them shaped more manly. Making them fuller and straighter does the trick. *addendum: /u/razielim Another masculine makeup tip: you don't actually have to make your eyebrows darker.

Use mascara or eyeshadow to create the little "growing in" hairs. You can brush your eyebrow hairs downward for a more manly shape. Fill in eyebrows darker and straighter, lessening the arch.
